Refereeing system and article selection

All articles and reviews received by Meridional will be submitted to a system of evaluation by two specialist judges under the double-blind system. For this purpose, external evaluators will be used.

The refereeing process will be carried out by means of a form that will evaluate the following aspects: 1) Originality; 2) Relevance to Latin American cultural studies; 3) Adequate support or theoretical framework, together with a clear determination of the objective of the work and the hypothesis(es), when applicable, updated bibliographical references appropriate to the field of research; 4) Formal aspects: correctness in language, citation and references according to the journal’s standards, adherence to a consistent and standard system of nomenclatures, sufficiently informative title and abstract.

The possible opinions of the referee will be: acceptance without amendments; acceptance with minor amendments, without further revision; acceptance after incorporating corrections; rejection. The results will be communicated within a maximum period of three months to the collaborators by e-mail, attaching the evaluation form. In the event of disparate evaluations, a third evaluator will be requested.

Once the call for papers for each issue is closed, each author will receive a response on the results of the evaluation within a period of three months.

Neither the submission, nor the editing and publication process have any associated costs for the authors.

Submission of manuscripts

All contributions should be sent to the following e-mail address, in Word format: revistameridional@gmail.com. By doing so, the authors grant Meridional the rights of publication, edition, reproduction, and distribution (including making the article available online by electronic or digital means in its original language) of the selected works by means of a letter, both in paper and electronic versions, as well as their inclusion in catalogs, libraries, indexes, servers or virtual sites. Likewise, they accept that Meridional. Revista Chilena de Estudios Latinoamericanos of the Universidad de Chile operates under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.

Users may access and use Meridional’s content freely, as long as they properly cite its source. Commercial use of the content and the generation of derivative works is not allowed. On the other hand, it is the responsibility of the authors to guarantee the reproduction rights of the images included in their articles.
