Practical Reason and Tragic Wisdom

Abstract

This essay seeks to prove why Greek tragedies constitute a consistent model to base an ethical pedagogy centered on deliberation. The conception of learning through suffering, the discernment of values conflict, and the acknowledgment of the tyché in our life course are questions that modern moral philosophy tends to neglect. In this regard, tragic wisdom incorporates crucial dimensions to develop a philosophical reflection that does justice to the complexity of the ethical experience.
