Abstract

The article analyzes mining operations, mainly gold and copper, carried out in El Guanaco ore. This site, discovered at the beginning of the nineteenth decade of the eighties, allows us to analyze the gold production in El Guanaco and its impact on national production. At the same time, the study of this site makes it possible to complement the migratory process in the region, through the analysis of the mining processes that led to the settlement and depopulation of the Aguada de Cachinal plate, subject to mineral exploitation. Finally, this example seeks to consolidate the analysis of the binomial mining and settlement in the Taltal region between the years 1880-1930.
